The Hive

Forums - How to Get Started

Forums - What Are They?

In The Hive, we have created forums so that we can ask questions, discuss topics and get answers - it's one of the places where we can help each other develop our data ninja skills.

Every full course has its own forum (sample courses don't have forums), so we can focus the chat in each forum to a specific topic.

Who Can Chat in Forums?

Everyone!

For our Free courses, all members of The Hive are invited to chat, no matter whether they have the Free Plan or one of our Premium Plans.

The forums for paid courses, though, are only available to those on a Premium Plan.

How Do I Find Them?

There are actually quite a few ways to find and access forums for the courses, and I'll give you a few examples below.

Like this one - you can find a course forum right on the course enrollment page:

How To Access a Forum 1

Just click on FORUM and you'll be taken straight to the chit-chat.

If you're not a Premium member or not logged in, then you won't see the FORUM link.

Here's another way to access a course forum - from right within the course:

How To Access a Forum 2

If you're anywhere else on our site, such as reading a blog post, away from the courses, you can check your forum replies by hovering over your avatar in the top right corner of any page on the site, like this:

It's Over To You!

Now it's your turn - go into The Hive and say "Hello" and introduce yourself within each course forum that you're taking.

Ask questions about things you're not sure about and either me or someone else in the forum will help you find the answers you're looking for.

For now, enjoy the courses and I look forward to chatting with you in The Hive!

Troubleshooting

If you're having difficulties with the forum or with any other part of our site, here are a few things that you can try that might just make all the difference:

  • Use a Windows PC - in theory, the registration process should go smoothly on other devices, but we highly recommend a Windows PC, as this is what we develop and test on
  • Use Firefox - The Hive has been tested extensively using the Firefox web browser, and although it should work fine in other browsers, we cannot guarantee that it will work with all other browsers in all circumstances
  • Clear your browser's cache - sometimes your browser will grab your cache's contents (which might be out of date) rather than the latest content, in which case hitting ctrl-F5 to clear the cache and refresh the page will often do the trick
